Lee-Anne & MTR Board,

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this video project to honour Lorne’s contribution and legacy to the sector and so many people’s lives.

What follows is an overview of the proposed creative approach and then some different budget options for your consideration - some which might be the result of changing logistics and others will be “add-ons”.

OVERVIEW

Since we’d like to hear from a number of voices, the trick is how to keep the logistics under control, tell the story, give people the opportunity for personal gratitude, and tie it all in visually.

I’m proposing we use the following assets to build the “story of Lorne” in relation to MTR.

Story & Thank you portraits

We’ll run around to a number of locations on a variety of scheduled shooting days and capture staff, key sector voices, tenants with the same framing and different backgrounds for an easy edit. Each filming segment we’ll ask them to contribute to specific story elements and time periods as well as the opportunity to say “thank you” with the aid of a visual sign. This will give us a picture of the expansive and diverse community Lorne has contributed to building and allow anyone who is willing to say a special memorable thank you.

STORY & THANK YOU SELFIES

For those who wish to participate but are unable to arrange time or are further away than possible to schedule, we can request that they send in a horizontal video selfie style video (or have someone film for them) on their mobile phone. I’d like to tie in with our filmed segments the use of a miniature blackboard sign that each person can write a special word or message to Lorne. We would mail out the same blackboard signs to each person who is unable to come and ask them to also do a shot with it. We may also ask people to come up with some different descriptor words of Lorne’s character and hopefully we’ll have some overlap that we could cut back and forth from.

HISTORICAL PHOTOS & VIDEOS

Wherever possible we’ll support the personal visuals as we tell the story with photos of lorne and MTR events during the specific time lines. In addition to this we’ll use the large whiteboard story of MTR as a visual (potentially posting it up in a location and filming some moving segments). We’ll be on the hunt for any images we can get ahold of with Lorne (friends, colleagues, staff, and what we have in the MTR archives). If people we interview are able to share and/or bring along one as well, we could include it in the “portrait” filming segment too - for an additional editing point. It will be important to start finding this content soon so we know what assets we do have access to and maybe which interviews to spend more time with or what story elements will be able to be told in extra detail visually.
