MINI DOC STYLE REFERENCES

ADVENTURE CANADA

I would like to propose a similar style with vignettes, portraits, grand visuals and "audio only" interviews for our subjects.

I believe this approach will combine maximum visual impact, room and time for a personal connection, and the ability to focus on a clear deliverable message from each person we interview and see.

EARLY PREP QUESTIONS AND NOTES

  • Discuss recommended style and approach and why (comments? problems?)
  • Discuss how to schedule interview subjects, who and how we will reach out and book times
  • Discuss AFA rep on location with Darryl (extra hands, clear messaging, networking)
  • Find best way to create a loose script or "talking categories" rather than questions for subjects
  • Brainstorm places and activities to get the most visually out of the people and scenes
  • Ask about stock footage (how to get & what is important to show)
  • Plan for early interview and filming for Valerie - possibly Sunday June 10th
  • Plan for creating google docs sheet of possible places and activities for each person & talking points
  • Think about timing breakdown for the video (should start to think about what we want to hear and see and how long)
  • Allotment of time for the 6-12 people in main video and getting extra comments for the additional videos

equipiment

  • Red Epic-W 8K camera with the latest sensor (that's 4x as large as a 4K image)
  • Create fluid movement as much as possible on my DJI ronin gimbal (for moving smooth footage - see images above)
  • Use drone footage for most remote locations to help establish grandness and scope
  • Record some audio on location for subtle background layer
  • Record interviews in quiet area for consistency (for example a vehicle interior with the same high quality mic)
